At St. Joe’s, we take our athletics seriously, as evidenced by the banners that are proudly displayed in our gymnasium, and the trophies that grace our display cases.
Jaguar Athletics is the culmination of everything that makes sport great; learning, co-operation, the spirit of competition, and the great development that takes place within a person who has had the opportunity to experience the world through the prism of athletic endeavor.
In accordance with our population, we are an “A” Division school, and compete with similarly classed schools within Upper Ottawa Valley. Uniquely, though, given the geography, we compete on a regular basis, through seasonal or tournament play, with schools that are classed in the “AA” and “AAA” Divisions. It represents an opportunity for our school to strike a balance between competing against schools of similar dispositions, while at the same time having the chance to challenge ourselves against schools with a much larger population pool.
Our coaching and resources are top-notch, and our attitude is consistent with that. While we approach every competition with the highest levels of sportsmanship, opposing teams and athletes should know that Jaguars are competitive types, and that they’ll more than have their hands full in any encounter with us.
It’s the language of pride. Pride in your school, pride in your team, and above all else, pride in one’s own self. And it’s an integral part of the overall package we offer here at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School.
