On Friday, twenty four grade 8 students represented St. Joseph’s at the Renfrew Elementary Track and Field Meet, held at the Ma-Te-Way Activity Centre here in Renfrew.
There were many strong performances by our athletes. Wyatt Zohr finished second in both the 200m and high jump events, while Skylar Kluke finished third in the high jump. Molly Helferty finished first in the 1600m race, Sammi Gauthier second in high jump. Alison Kasaboski third in the 100m race, while Saralyn Deslaurier took second in the standing long, and third in the running long jump.
Sonya Bergin claimed the Senior Girls Champion Award, finishing first in both the standing long and running long jump competitions, and taking second place in shot put.
It’s important to recognize the efforts of all who prepared for and attended the event. Thanks goes out to all students who made the effort to compete for the team, and as well, to Mr. McIntyre for the time he spent supervising the trials necessary to assembling the final squad. And thanks, of course, to track and field coach Stacey McGregor for his efforts
Great work everyone.
