Lady Jags Drop A Squeeker

In a fire-wagon offensive tilt against a Double “A” opponent, the Junior Girls basketball team lost a heartbreaker last night to the Opeongo Wildcats.

The Jaguars had managed to take leads at several points during the game, but the Wildcats wouldn’t leave it alone, launching several spirited counterattacks that resulted in the game being tied after regulation time had elapsed.

Going into the extra frame, Opeongo was able to capitalize on its momnetum, out-scoring St. Joe’s by six points to secure a 51-35 decision in front of a Jaguar home crowd.

Melissa Verch led the Jaguar attack with 27 points, with Sonya Bergin chipping in ten points, and Shannon Charbonneau adding another six.  The Junior Girls now sport a record of 1-1 on the season.
